Why I'm loading up on volatility while VIX sits at 16

(new market video update)

Don Kaufman here.

I just called the end of an era.

"TACO time is officially over," I told my audience yesterday. And if you don't know what that means, you're about to find out why it matters more than any economic report you'll read this week.

TACO = Trump Always Chickens Out.

For months, the market has been playing Lucy and the football with tariff deadlines.

July 9th became August 1st. Everyone assumed more delays, more posturing, more of the same.

They're wrong.

The Brazil situation alone should have you paying attention. They're our second-largest trading partner, and their market is already reacting. Meanwhile, the U.S. market? Acting like nothing's happening.

Here's what's really wild: The VIX is sitting at 16.

SIXTEEN.

With a Trump presidency and tariff deadlines looming, we're pricing volatility like we're in some sleepy summer market.

I can't price volatility at 16 right now. I won't.

That's why I'm doing something most people think is crazy...

I'm loading up on short-duration options while everyone else is playing musical chairs with big tech.

Speaking of musical chairs - that's exactly what's happening right here. One day it's Amazon's turn to pop. Next day it's Meta. Then Broadcom gets its moment. Meanwhile, market internals are absolutely terrible.

The S&P 100 had 92 decliners yesterday morning. Financials are getting crushed at the lower edge of their expected move. Even JP Morgan is struggling going into earnings.

But here's the kicker...

The expected move for next week is only $86. We already moved 50 points in a single session, and they're pricing the entire week at $86?

That's not just wrong. It's dangerous.

• Why the "musical chairs" game in big tech is setting up a massive reversal (and the one sector that's screaming danger right now)

• The bond trade that could become "one of the most advantageous trades of this decade" (I've already started positioning)

• How smart money is reading the Brazil situation while retail investors ignore the obvious warning signs

I've got specific setups I'm watching. Volatility windows that won't stay open forever. And a timing element that most people are completely missing.

Don't be the person who realizes what happened after it's too late to position for it.

To your success,

Don Kaufman
